No-Dig Drain Repair

Pipe Relining
Specialists In
Dean Park

We camera the line first, show you what is actually wrong, and then tell you whether relining is the right answer. Often it is. Where the pipe has collapsed or lost its fall, it is not, and we will say so rather than sell you a liner that disappoints.

When A Liner Is The Right Repair In Dean Park

A resin-saturated liner is drawn into the existing pipe through an access point, inflated so it presses against the wall, and cured until it hardens. What you are left with is a continuous pipe inside the old one, with no joints along its length and a slightly smaller bore than the original.

Nothing is excavated, and the cured surface is smoother than the clay or concrete it lines, so flow is typically maintained or improved despite the small loss of diameter. On a property where a driveway, mature garden or paving sits over the line, that is the whole argument.

Straight Talk

Roots in the line, and why relining ends it

Street trees planted when Dean Park was new are now mature, and their roots find the glued PVC joints and inspection openings of the original pipework.

Cutting roots out clears the pipe and does nothing about the way in. The joint they came through is still open, the tree is still looking for water, and the interval before the next blockage is set by how fast it grows back. That is why a jetted line often reblocks on a schedule you could almost diary.

A liner seals the full run, joints included, so there is no opening left to find. It is the one intervention that changes the pattern instead of resetting the clock.

Keeping the tree and fixing the drain

Removing a mature tree is expensive, often needs approval, and frequently does not solve it: the roots already inside the pipe do not leave when the trunk does, and the joint is still open for the next one.

Relining lets both things be true at once. The garden stays as it is and the drain stops being a route to water. For most owners that is the whole appeal, and it is why no-dig gets specified on established blocks far more often than on new ones.

What the camera has to show first

Root intrusion is not automatically a relining job. If the roots are fine and the pipe behind them is sound, a cut and jet with a maintenance interval can be the right call for years.

What moves it to relining is structural: an open joint you can see daylight through, a cracked barrel, or a run that has been cleared repeatedly at shortening intervals. Anyone quoting a liner without showing you the inside of the pipe is guessing, and you should ask for the footage.

When relining is the wrong answer

It is not a universal fix and anyone presenting it as one is selling rather than advising. A liner follows the shape of the host pipe, so it cannot correct a run that has lost its fall or sagged into a belly. A collapsed section has nothing to line against. A pipe crushed badly out of round has to be replaced.

In those cases the right answer is excavation, and we would rather quote that and be trusted than reline something that will disappoint you in two years.

Notifications and compliance

Drainage work in NSW is licensed work, and work on the sanitary drain is notified to the water authority with a plan showing what was done. That is not a formality: it is what the next owner, conveyancer or insurer refers to.

You should receive the paperwork without asking. If a quote is materially cheaper than the others, it is worth confirming that notification and compliance are included in it.

How long a liner lasts

Manufacturers generally rate cured-in-place liners at around fifty years, which is comparable to a new pipe and considerably longer than the remaining life of the earthenware most of them are installed into.

The practical test is different from the marketing one: a liner has no joints along its length, and joints are what fail. Removing them is the reason the number is that high.

What it costs in Dean Park

01

Camera inspection: $300–$750

The first and non-negotiable step. Most operators credit it against the works if you proceed.

02

Per metre for a liner, $500–$900

Domestic sewer across Sydney in 2026. Longer single runs sit at the lower end of it.

03

A junction or patch repair, $1,500–$4,000

Seals one defect. Right where the rest of the run is sound and the ground is stable.

04

A whole domestic line, $6,000–$15,000

Length, diameter and how many branches need reinstating are what move the number inside that band.

05

Digging it up, from $2,500 plus making good

Excavation is only half the cost. Replacing the driveway or garden above it is the other half.

Figures reflect the 2026 Sydney market rather than a quote. You get your own number once we have seen inside the pipe. Figures here are indicative of the 2026 Sydney market rather than a quote from us, you get your own number as a fixed price before any work starts.

How A Relining Job Runs

Step 01
Step 01
Measuring a drain fault from an inspection opening

Survey And Measure

We find the fault, measure it from an access point, and check the fall is intact. That last check is what stops a liner being installed into a belly.

Step 02
Written pipe relining quote prepared after a camera survey

Quote In Writing

Per metre, with access and junction reinstatement itemised, and the excavation comparison alongside it so you can see both.

Step 03
No-dig pipe relining in progress

Reline It

Clean, install, cure. One access point, one day for most homes, and no trench across the property.

Step 04
Completed relining job with documentation

Hand It Over Documented

Branches reopened, final footage, certificate and notification. Keep it with the property file, it is worth real money at sale.

Usually, but not always, and anyone who says always is selling. Relining wins wherever something valuable sits above the pipe: a driveway, established garden, paving, a building, or trading days you cannot afford to lose. Excavation wins on an open lawn with a shallow line, and it is the only answer where the pipe has collapsed, lost its fall or been crushed out of round. A camera survey is what tells you which case you are in.
Yes, and no honest quote exists without one. The survey establishes the pipe material and diameter, where the defects sit and how far they are from an access point, whether the fall is intact, and where the junctions are. Ask for the footage afterwards. It is your property, it is the evidence behind the price, and it is what an insurer, a strata manager or a buyer will want to see later.
Relining is priced per metre and the range across Sydney in 2026 is roughly $500 to $900 a metre for a domestic sewer, with junction reinstatement and access usually quoted separately. A short patch repair over a single defect commonly lands between $1,500 and $4,000, and a full-length domestic run more often sits between $6,000 and $15,000. The honest comparison is not liner against nothing: it is liner against excavation plus reinstating whatever sits on top of the pipe.
Yes, along the relined length. Roots do not attack sound pipe, they find a way in through an open joint or crack, and a liner is continuous with no joints for them to exploit. Cutting roots out clears the pipe but leaves the entry point exactly as it was, which is why jetted lines tend to reblock on a predictable interval.
Almost never. Removing a mature tree is expensive, often needs approval, and does not remove the roots already inside the line. {COUNCIL}Sealing the way in is what changes the outcome, and it lets you keep a tree that is usually worth more to the property than the drainage repair costs.
The interval gives it away. A fault that returns at roughly the same spacing each time is a fixed defect refilling at a predictable rate rather than anything the household is doing. Roots also show unmistakably on camera as a fine mass at a joint. Keep the dates of previous clears, they narrow the diagnosis before anyone arrives.
